Schmitz started the meeting at 2:01 p.m. and facilitated brief introductions.

Report from IEDA
Rick Peterson shared progress with the State alignment and the Iowa Arts Council, SHPO and Produce Iowa transition to IEDA|IFA. The Bell Avenue entrance construction project is in progress.

Report from Iowa Arts Council Director
Schmitz provided updates on grants and program highlights. The May 1 round of FY2024 grants was announced. (Determan arrived at 4:30 in the recording.) Schmitz shared program highlights in creative industries/film and media, arts education, and the Iowa Cultural Leadership Cohort.

Report from Chair
Determan expressed gratitude for the board and staff working through this transition. Rick Peterson shared an update on the recent Boards and Commissions report.

Report from Program Manager
Berg shared updates on continued technical assistance, the Destination Iowa project team, and a mentorship program for newly designated communities. Berg closed with expressing gratitude for the boards’ efforts.

Public Comment
No public comment was made.

Board Discussion
Determan entertained a discussion on future board meetings. Discussion ensued. Determan determined the plan to not hold a December meeting with the option to hold a special meeting as needed. June 2023 meeting minutes will be approved at the first subsequent meeting with quorum.
