Deadline: Poetry Out Loud Registration
Poetry Out Loud is a national arts education program that encourages the study of great poetry by offering free educational materials and a dynamic recitation competition for high school students across the country. This program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary history and contemporary life. Poetry Out Loud is a partnership of the National Endowment for the Arts, Poetry Foundation, and the state and jurisdictional arts agencies.
Please note the following dates and deadlines:
• August 1, 2024: School registration opens • September 1, 2024: 2024-2025 Poetry Out Loud Anthology available • December 1, 2024: School registration deadline • January 31, 2025: Deadline to hold a local contest at your school or organization • February 7, 2025: Deadline to register local contest winner for virtual semi-final competition • February 14, 2025: Finalists invited to participate in state contest in Des Moines • March 9, 2025: State contest in Des Moines
