From John Wayne to Ron Livingston, Johnny Carson to Steve Higgins and Donna Reed to Kate Mulgrew, all of these entertainers can call Iowa home. Iowa even launched two Superman legacies—George Reeves and Brandon Routh. We’re proud of these famous Iowans and others in the Hollywood industry who we occasionally welcome back to sit down and talk about their successes. They even leave their mark at the State Historical Museum with their handprints on our Wall of Fame.
And Iowa is rich in cinematic history. State Fair, Field of Dreams, Twister and who could forget Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep in The Bridges of Madison County? Many films have been shot in Iowa starting with The Homesteader in Sioux City in 1919. We invite you to relive some of Iowa’s successes on the silver screen.
